Data viz post

For my data viz pitch, I would like to do something about how there are many craft beer breweries popping up all over Long Island and in New York. There are tons of statistics on increasing breweries on Long Island. I could make an interactive chart or a map graphic to show where they are, or I can make an interactive chart to show the increase. I envision a map of Long Island, with dots where each brewery is and when you hover your mouse over it, it says the name of the brewery and the town it is located in. I could also find how long it has been there.

Here some interesting stats from the New York Brewers Association:

• The number of New York State breweries grew from 95 in 2012 to 240 in 2015¹
• New York State craft beer is currently 4th in the country with an Economic Impact of $3.5 Billion dollars²
• In 2015, New York State was the 5th largest beer producing state behind California, Pennsylvania, Colorado, and Oregon ²
• New York State craft breweries increased production by 26% from 557,436 in 2011  to 989,536 barrels in 2015³
• Nationally, the craft beer segment grew by 20% in the same period ²
