My story is based on the Stony Brook School of Medicine and will center around events, new inventions and research topics.

1- Chunk Theme (WP.org) : https://wordpress.org/themes/chunk/

This theme would be ideal because it is simple and ideal for longer, magazine style stories because it is easy to scroll down and read through the content. The colors are the basic black and white but its simplistic approach is easy to navigate and the tabs at the top pf the page are clearly visible so the users can visit other sections easily. The background can be customized so featured photos could be used for that purpose.

2- Twenty Sixteen (WP.org) : https://wordpress.org/themes/twentysixteen/

This theme is appealing because it is easy to work with the text, images and info graphic that can be inserted between the text. It provides a much more interactive platform and has an appealing combination of colors and a simple layout. The “About” tab is on the right hand side and makes it easier for users to read about the author at the same time as sampling their work.

3- News Pro Theme (StudioPress) : http://my.studiopress.com/themes/news/

The News Pro theme is an updated version of Twenty Sixteen and has a better layout because the collection of stories on the blog are featured on the right hand side bar, like a preview. It is very user friendly and has the feel of how most  major news publishing sites are designed  like the Daily Beast and Vox. It also has a useful “features stories” section in the middle of the page which would be interesting to tinker with to display important info graphic or images.

4- Magazine Pro Theme (StudioPress) : http://my.studiopress.com/themes/magazine/

This theme is slightly different than News Pro and does not include the “featured stories.” It has a very bold header that is eye catching and has the most recent post pinned at the top. It also has section posts organized below the recent posts which would be easier to display images from other posts or links to features videos.

5- Hub theme (WOO Themes) : http://demo.woothemes.com/?name=hub

This theme is very minimalist and has the stories organized in stacks, one below the other. The organization is not very fragmented and is very easy to work with. However, displaying videos and info graphic might be difficult on the home page. Since my stories are based on JRN 340, I will have around six stories to publish which might make the theme look more streamlined.
