Ample: https://wordpress.org/themes/ample/

This theme would work because the layout it simple enough that I can play around with what goes where. I can use a photo related to solar farms as my heading photo, the headline would be clearly at the top, and the menu bar would be easily accessible, which is something Dean Schneider likes very much. Also, it’s very responsive, so it’ll still look good on mobile and tablet.

Olsen Light: https://wordpress.org/themes/olsen-light/

I like this theme for my website because the headline is more emphasized, and I like how the menu bar comes below it. I also like the idea of having the about me section on the side of my story. Speaking of the story, it could run continuously along the left side, with photos and interactive breaking it up.

Sugar and Spice: https://wordpress.org/themes/sugar-and-spice/

As much as you’ll hate me for saying this, I think this theme is just super cute! But also, again the headline is clear and the menu is easily manageable. As I said for the Olsen Light theme, I could have the story run along the left with photos and interactives mixed in. I can make a separate page for the video which can be clicked on via the menu. And again, I like have the right sidebar there with social media links, and a blurb about my story.

Impronta: https://wordpress.org/themes/impronta/

This theme is very clean and organized. My website is going to be very heavy on the story and photos/maps, so this layout allows me to easily show case the added values within my story. Also, according to its description, Impronta theme is perfect for news sites, so who am I to argue with that! Also, it has a great responsive design that I like and think will work good with having maps and photos in the story.

New Born: http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/56024.html

I like this theme for my website because it just has a really cool look to it. It’s interactive, responsive, and organized. I can easily put a gallery of images running at the top of my story, and then have the different data visuals available through the menu bar for viewers to quickly jump to. The only thing I don’t like about this theme is that it’s not free, so try not to pick this one for me, thanks!
